Miss Kathy Walker
Kathy sensed the Lord’s call to Kenya after she first visited the FPCU work in 2004 and learned that national believers needed training in “Christ-honoring” church music. Because of her gifts in music, and a burden from the Lord to serve there, she came to Kenya as a full-time missionary two years later.
Laboring with five missionaries from the FPCU, a sister denomination to the FPCNA, Kathy works with the already established Bible Christian Faith Church (BCFC), a denomination that separated from the African Inland Church in the early 80’s over fundamental doctrinal issues.
Kathy formed and regularly trains a number of choirs, and choir directors, in several BCFC churches. She also works in the 700 student BCFC Christian Academy teaching music theory and practice. The Academy has a primary recorder choir, a secondary chime choir, and both primary and secondary vocal choirs that hold concerts for students, parents and visitors from the local community.
Kathy also actively oversees a growing literature ministry with two bookshops, one in Kitale and another in Makutano, Kenya. The shops offer Reformed books and literature, Swahili and English (AV) Bibles, and a number of self published materials like a hymnal in the Pokot dialect, Swahili tracts, a Swahili catechism, and a daily devotional booklet in Swahili written by one of Kathy’s colleagues.
